Painting 10 shows the burnout and jettison of Stage One and the ignition of Stage Two. This is the second of three launch scenes with the generic background of Earth in the lower left and starry sky in upper right.
This and the previous painting display the unique heat shield planned to protect the two stage one rocket nozzles from the prolonged heating of the solid boosters.
