This collection of MOL art by Neal Jacobe tells the story of a typical secret military space mission, from pre-launch preparation, through launch and in-orbit activities, to re-entry and splashdown, focusing exclusively on the human aspects of that mission for which Douglas had overall responsibility and remaining silent about the classified reconnaissance activity that was the mission's driving goal.
The set contains two additional paintings that don't fit into that sequence, a hint of at least one more painting that would complete the series, and vestiges of an earlier portfolio of paintings on the same topic. These are described below.
